What is Acrobat Reader?

How does Acrobat Reader work?
The Acrobat Reader is a software application that displays and prints documents saved in PDF format exactly as the author designed it, without needing to have the same application or fonts used to create the file.

Once you have installed Acrobat Reader on your computer you can use it with Netscape. When you first click on a PDF document link on the web, Netscape will prompt you to either pick an application with which to view the document or to save it to your hard drive. Selecting the Acrobat Reader application will download a local copy of the PDF file to your hard drive and automatically launch the Acrobat Reader software to display it. You can delete the local copy of the document after viewing. Acrobat Reader also provides a plug-in for Netscape that allows you to view PDF files directly in Netscape without downloading a local copy.
